The New GM?
Now that the government has owns GM (formerly General Motors, now Government Motors), I'm sure they'll make wise decisions, just like they do with everything else. I can't wait to see what is going to happen to GM's contracts, now that they're going to be managed by the same people that go 10 years and 3,000% over budget on everything else they manage!

Re: The New GM?
lol...cute comparisons. Honestly I wouldnt mind the new idea so much if everyone else was driving them! I would kind of miss liking to look at my car too

Too bad the Toyotas are rusting out so bad.
For an interesting read, if it's still in print, 'On a clear day, you can see General Motors' by Ralph Delorean.

Re: The New GM?
wouldn't have a Honda on a bet. I spent half a day with a friend of mine trying to fix one a while back. All but impossible to work on and while i no longer do my own mechanical work - I still prefer a car that I canopen the hood and see the actual engine. not just fifty pounds of crap I've got to remove before I can even see the engine let alone work on it.

Re: The New GM?
My boyfriend has his own shop, and I think he pretty much hates working on any newer vehicle in general...and the plus side with hondas is that they rarely break down, but there are lemons in every batch you know! I remember when I was looking for a new car everytime I would say one he would be like, no..to hard to work on. Hey but as far as american the older, the better, and the easier to work on. I know I broke down in a WalMart parking lot in my 94' chevy truck, and an old friend happened to be there that put on a new belt right on the spot...loved that truck!

And you think I drave a ninety model Pontiac because I'm old and Poor? I'd still be driving my 1975 Maverick if I could still get parts fr it...
I could change out the starter in my 1980 Dodge prospector in about fifteen minutes without even getting out the jack.

Re: The New GM?
There are plus's with the newer cars. The Sentra I run now runs like a top with 87k miles on it. The dealer told me that it won't need plugs until I hit about 105k miles. The put a new belt on for me.
I do miss my 64 Malibu SS, but not the tuneups twice a year, rebuilding the alternator every 3 or 4 years. Valve jobs, etc.

Re: The New GM?
I just got the chance to test the wifes Subaru Legacy on some pretty shitty road conditions, snow slush etc. I am totally sold on this car. I just hope it doesn't lure me into being too cockey.
